The watchtower books and magazines contain " confession" after " confession" that even the casual reader of there words should be convinced its all bunk.

1975 scan-Anyone?

Were you 'alive in '75' and how was that year for you?
by punkofnice ini was a junior borgite in 1975. i remeber looking at the calendar at work in october and thinking: 'armageddon isn't here yet.....and it doesn't feel like it will be here anytime soon either!'.
i was surprised that jehovah hadn't obeyed the superior command to bring the big 'a' as instructed to him by fred franz.
how dare god disobey the jw leader!!!!!.

British museum bible tours
by inbetween invisiting london years ago i had the chance to participate on a bible tour arranged from bethel.
what i remember, it was one out of 12 topics, and a brother or sister served as a guide, showing particular objects related to bible accounts.. at that time, i was quite enthusiastic about it, thinking i learned something valuable.. .
now, being awake to ttatt, i wonder what real scientific value those tours served.. or rather it raises the suspicion, that those tours are for visiting witnesses in order to distract them from many other finds in the museum, that would disprove either the bible or their own theology.. anybody ever made such a tour ?.

If i remember correctly, the Bethelites gave the tour and were grateful for the financial contribution. Not that theres anything wrong with that, ad it cant be much fin living on a vow of poverty and i think it must have been nice for the bethelite to earn some money.

Question from an outsider regarding beliefs and views on women

Why doesn't Jehovah just destroy Satan and the demons then leave humanity alone?
by yadda yadda 2 indid you ever wonder that as a jw?.
if all the trouble on this planet is down to satan and the demons, why not just get rid of them and then leave humankind alone and see how we go from there?
wouldn't a god who "is love" (1 john 4:8) full of mercy and justice at least try that first?

Well Data if the W.T is right about Satan, turning evil and origional sin, the explanation still lucks credibility. Why? Because the organisation has been wrong so often and had so many doctrinal changes thet they have simply lost credibility...that is why like you i enjoy accummilating information but i think it all ends in a cul-de- sac, and i wont ever believe any creation account because if a creator cant do a better job of explaining the matter then it has to be bunk.

Jehovah WILL provide......
by quellycatface inhi guys.. just found out today that my landlord is selling my apartment.
he says he selling it with me as a sitting tenant, so should be okay.
i'm still a bit apprehensive as i've been here nearly 8 years and my son is in year 9 at the local school.. my mum's words of wisdom, were, of course, "jehovah will provide.".

If his seling it with you as a sitting tennent wont that effect the asking price? Are you on a tenancy that when it exspires you can be asked to leave.
Maybe the purchaser is buying to let anyway...lots of possibilities. If you like the place so much maybe you can get a mortgage, the interest rates are low the repayments will be less than your rent. In fact in 20 years it could be our property with the mortgage paid.
None of what happens is down to Jehover though.

Yes i was alive in 1975, with my school execsise book. pen and ink, and decades away from understanding what an email was or what the internet is all about so it was much harder to think or question. But thats why the society is now " obay, dont think or question" thats all it can be now. Infact its all bible based religion can be now, because when Jesus said " it is written" it was was never written, and that can no longer be hidden.

adamah, reading your post i guess i can see how story makes perfect scence for the audience at the time. I mean to belive in a God even then needed a lot of explanation and i guess a god was all you could believe in, so death and suffering had to explained. Its a good story that hasnt stood the test of time.

Is it possible for believers to ask for something in prayer that doesn't......

if someone else is controlled or affected, doesn't this mean that freewill is out the window?.
surely god either does or doesn't answer prayers?.

Actually Data Dog and not wishing to be perdantict, but reading the account it is only an assumption that the serpent was satan....in fact the account has so much assumption and speculation, that i feal a bit presumtiouse now accepting one version over another....we could even assume Jehover is Satan, and the Serpent God..and its possible to make a good case to support that assumption...
